BETTY VILLEGAS
Betty Villegas is far more than a political candidate; she is a lifelong advocate, leader, and dedicated public servant for the Pima County community. As a third-generation Tucsonan, devoted wife, proud mother, and loving grandmother, Betty understands firsthand the importance of developing safe and strong communities that allow families to thrive for generations to come.
Betty's decision to run for Legislative District 20 is a natural continuation of her lifetime of service. For nearly two decades, Betty served as Housing Program Manager and Director of the Pima County Housing Center, where she led efforts to address some of the southern region's most pressing housing challenges. Her leadership helped expand access to affordable housing, strengthen pathways to homeownership, and led initiatives to protect vulnerable individuals and families from predatory lending practices and foreclosures.
Betty's extensive experience in housing policy and community development has made her a trusted public servant and community leader. On April 7, 2020, at the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, she was appointed to the Pima County Board of Supervisors to help guide Pima County through a public health crisis while advocating for the needs of residents. After completing her service on the Board of Supervisors, she continued her commitment to expand housing opportunities as the Community Housing Director for the South Tucson Housing Authority. In that role, she continued to address housing affordability, improve community resources, and support those seeking safe and stable housing.

As representative of LD20, she focused on practical solutions to strengthen communities and improve the quality of life for Arizonans.
Betty brings unmatched expertise and practical experience at a time when Arizona faces a growing affordability crisis. She has worked directly with community organizations and government agencies to develop solutions that create stability and opportunity for working people.
Betty Villegas has never stopped fighting for Southern Arizona communities; she will continue to bring that same dedication and experience to the Arizona Legislature. Betty's deep roots in Tucson, combined with her extensive public service experience, make her uniquely qualified to represent LD 20. She understands the challenges that many families face, as she has spent her career helping address these issues. Her commitment to responsible leadership, affordable housing, and strong communities reflects the values of the people she seeks to continue serving.
